Meeting
Called to order at 7:20 PM by Chairperson Pat Richards
9 members
and guests were present.
Minutes: March minutes were read by Secretary Michael Spencer and approved without
corrections.
Treasurers Report: Treasurer not present. No Report.
Newsletter: George
needs trip reports by next weekend.
Membership: Membership Chair Vince Kappler
reported we currently have 44 members, with 8 not paid for 2006.
Correspondence: Spiritual Leader Dean Snyder
reported receiving Cave Hunter and Philly Grotto News.
Old Business
Newsletter: Pat
said we will be putting an expiration date on the mailing label starting
with the Fall 2006 newsletter.
Membership:
Discussed putting the membership application online. Mike S. will
follow up.
Wildlands: Pat
is following up on making a donation to the Wildlands Conservancy.
File Cabinets: Pat
mentioned that Daytimers will have file cabinets available shortly.
Pat will follow up.\
Lost River Cleanup:Dean
doesn't want the cleanup published on the website to make sure efforts are
more coordinated. Dean will follow up with Bob & Beverly on cleanups.
Lost River: Frank
mentioned that Lost River Caverns will have various activities on Friday,
July 21st, from 11AM to 3PM. Frank volunteered to help by taking rough
material to split open for fossils. Other discussion ensued.
Vince may join Frank to help.
New Business
Speleofest 2006: Mike and
Stephanie will be going to Speleofest in KY.
Dues:
Vince opened a discussion regarding increasing dues. We currently have
49 members at $6 each and collect roughly $192 in dues each year. The
last newsletter cost $67, so we spend about $280 on the newsletter alone
each year. Frank discussed emailing the newsletter to save money.
It was mentioned that some people already get the newsletter via email.
Vince Kappler made motion to raise dues to $10 starting in 2007. Stephanie
Spencer Seconded the motion. Vote Called: 7 in favor, 1
abstained. Motion passed.
York Memorial Day Weekend: Pat mentioned that Alan
Horn is arranging a York Grotto Memorial Day Weekend in Lewisburg, WVA.
Thrus - Mon., 5/25-5/29. Trips include Scott Hollow, Organ,
Bone-Norman and others.
NSS Membership: Pat reminded everyone to update
their NSS membership information online before the new members manual is
issued.
Note:
Pat learned from Dale that Joel Jacobs farther had passed away.
Spring MAR: Reminder
that the Spring MAR is May 5-7.
Trip Reports
George & Vince discussed a through trip in Organ and a
trip to Scott Hollow.
