General Membership Meeting
of the
Greater Allentown Grotto, Inc.

Sunday, July 17, 2005


Meeting Called to Order by Vice-Chairperson Ed Kehs Sr.

8 members were present.

Minutes:                 June 19, 2005 General Membership Meeting minutes were read by Secretary Michael Spencer and approved without corrections.

Treasurers Report:   Treasurer not present.  No Report.

Newsletter:             Editor not present.  No Report.

Membership:            Membership Chair Vince Kappler reported we currently have 56 members, which is the same as last month.

Correspondence:      Spiritual Leader Dean Snyder reported receiving various newsletters.

Old Business

GAG Picnic:            Ed K. reminded everyone that the picnic will start around noon on August 21st at Ed's house (Onyx Cave in Berks County).  Bring a covered dish.  Vince K. or Mike S. will call or email George J. to get a flyer out.  Vince K. will get a new mailing list to George J.

York Grotto Picnic: Dean S. reminded everyone that the York Grotto picnic is on August 13th.

Fall MAR:              General reminder that the FALL MAR is the weekend of September 16-18.

New Business

None

Trip Reports

Beacon & Kline's Gap Caves:  Mike Kistler reported that he thinks the Kline's Gap survey is finally wrapped up.  He also visited Paul & Leslie Lubaczewski and went to Beacon Cave with Leslie.

New York Trip:       Vince Kappler mentioned he could put together a beginner caving trip in New York for July 23 or 30th.

Butler Trip:            Ed Kehs Sr. said he would be willing to lead a trip to Butler the first weekend of October.

Onyx Cave:            Ed. Kehs Sr. found about 100 feet of new passage off the Allentown section in Onyx Cave.

NSS Convention:    Frank Herceg looked at natural wells and also went to Shelta Cave.  Vince Kappler and Katherine Crispin went to Shelta Cave.

WVA Caving Projects:  There was general discussion about the survey of Hellhole Cave and other WVA caving projects.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:06 PM

Program:                 The program was not noted in the minutes, but the Secretary thinks Dean Snyder shows a cave related video.
